天田莉煮熟的食物 - 鲜为人知的char kway teow摊位藏在ang mo kio ave 10
There who have a penchant for food with lighter flavours might find it hard to indulge in our local hawker food, especially a dish like char kway teow. I’m happy to report that you can now get a plate of char kway teow that’s not as heavy, but tastes just as good, at Tian Tian Lai Cooked Food.
Located within Chong Boon Market & Food Centre, the stall is manned by a friendly auntie and a no-nonsense uncle who is very efficient with his cooking. I got my food in less than five minutes so you can definitely maximise your lunch break if you’re popping by from your office nearby!
Apart from Fried Kway Teow, they also cook up Fried Beehoon and Fried Maggi Mee that come with a heap of ingredients — you don’t see that everyday, that’s for sure. Both dishes are available in 2 portions($3.50 and $4.50).
My plate of Fried Kway Teow came piled with noodles, fish cake slices, lup cheong(Chinese sausages), a handful ofhum(cockles) and beansprouts. I was surprised when the auntie added a sprinkle of what I thought waschye poh(preserved radish) on top of the dish. It turned out to be crushed pieces of pork lard which was an interesting touch.
The sauce coating the rice noodles and yellow noodles was milder in taste as compared to that present in most char kway teow, but it still delivered a nice hit of sweetness that was enough to whet my appetite. I requested for chilli to be added (like always) and there were hints of spiciness that teased my tastebuds but not enough to send me searching for a drink of water.
What truly shone, for me, was the ingredients which were fairly generous in portion, along with the amount of noodles. The slices oflup cheongwere aplenty and chock full of meaty sweetness. Albeit small, thehumhidden in the mess of noodles delivered little pops of brininess, and were quite substantial in portion.
天田赖煮熟的食物is surely a diamond in the rough that deserves more recognition! Not to mention, I didn’t feel like I was committing caloric sin when digging into their plate of Fried Kway Teow, so that’s a plus point for sure!
